Wynifred Eleanor Christianson, eldest daughter of Bill and Lil Jones, was born July 15, 1938 at the farm in Clair. Wynne passed away on May 17, 2019 at the Pleasant View Care Home in Wadena.

She attended grade school in Clair and then attended Saskatoon Teachers’ College. She received a Certificate from the Department of Education in 1958. Wynne was the teacher at Moosehorn school for most of the 1959-1960 school year. Although, she never taught full time after that, she used her skills in substitute teaching and by taking an active role in the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Confirmation programs.

Wynne met Canfield Christianson, the love of her life, in the summer of 1957 when she came to work for Edith on the Christianson farm before attending Teachers’ College.  They were married on July 15, 1959. Together, they lived and farmed in the Hendon area. To this union three children were born: Heather, Cheryl and Canfield.

She was an active member of the Hendon community, contributing to and holding various positions on the boards of many committees such as Scandia Ladies Aid, Scandia Lutheran Church, Hendon Community Club, Hendon Cooperative Women’s Guild and the Hendon Hall Board to name a few.

Wynne loved being with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She enjoyed hosting and cooking for family and friends, inside around the dining table and outside around the fire pit. Favourite pastimes included playing cards/games, doing crossword puzzles, reading, fishing, camping and in earlier years curling and playing baseball. She enjoyed quilting and lovingly made quilts for her children and grandchildren.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters Heather (Chris) Nedjelski and Cheryl (Dwight) Sorensen; grandchildren Erica (Lyndon) Arnason, Christian (Lacey) Nedjelski, Kelsi Sorensen (Matt) and Landen Sorensen (Melissa); great grandchildren DJ (Barry), Jayk, Reier, Thaine, Jaevin, Davyn and Iniah; great-great granddaughter Wilson; sisters Peggie Solomon and Glynis (Wes) Bates; sisters-in-law Trudy Jones, Doris Christianson, Iona Christianson and Mildred Mears; brother-in-law Vernon (Shirley) Christianson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Canfield (2008); infant son Canfield; her parents Bill and Lil Jones; brothers Bob and Evan; her in-laws Edith and Carl Christianson; sisters-in-law Caroline, Winnifred, Evelyn and  Audrey;  brothers-in law Richard, Alvin, Ted, Melburn, Rodney, Charlie, Arnold, Edgar, Ralph and Gordon and nephew Charles.

Wynne will be sadly missed not only by her family, but by her friends, neighbours and the community that she was so much a part of.
