In May 2021 a Facebook page announced the creation of the Wadena Community Childcare Centre board. A group of working parents had joined together to address the issue of the lack of childcare in the community. The Wadena Childcare Center board has been working hard to fundraise for the purchase and renovation of a facility that will provide licensed childcare to the Wadena area. Tompkins Funeral Home identified this group and goal as a worthy community initiative and decided to show support to their endeavor in a variety of ways. 

On Sunday, October 16, 2022 the Wadena Childcare Centre board hosted a Fall Supper fundraiser. Tompkins Funeral Home was pleased to support this event by purchasing and preparing the roast beef for the supper.

On Saturday, November 26, 2022, Tompkins Funeral Home hosted a Beef on a Bun lunch on behalf of the Wadena Childcare Center at the Frosty Fest Market. A delicious meal was prepared and served by our staff and Wadena Childcare Center board members. $2,700.00 was raised and donated to this worthy cause.

Tompkins Funeral Home has also been please to attend other Wadena Childcare Center fundraising events such as the Valentine’s Day Steak Night and Auction and to provide cash donations towards this group. We wish them continued success in their fundraising efforts to this worthy cause.
